Lochaber, 7th-8th December 2003
Not long after we got the digital camera we were out hillwalking in Lochaber (Jen was finishing off her round of the Munros). We were treated to some fantastic inversion conditions.
On the Saturday we walked up Gulvain
The mist was coming and going, and we saw several Brocken Spectres like this
The mist-draped tops of Gulvain (the summit is the far away one)
Jen emerging from the mist
Another Brocken Spectre
Looking back to the first top from near the summit of Gulvain
On the Sunday we walked up to the Lairig Leacach in cold, clammy, overcast conditions. We walked up Stob Coire Easain from the pass, and popped out above the clouds into warm, sunny weather
Looking across to the Grey Corries - the island peak on the left is Stob Ban. The highest peak at the back is Ben Nevis
Looking across to the Mamores
We dropped back down to the pass (cold and damp again), then headed up Stob Ban
Another Brocken Spectre from the ridge
Mist pooled against the ridge; the Mamores in the background
A Brocken Spectre of Stob Ban itself

The Mamores from the summit of Stob Ban
Looking back at the Easains - the nearer one is Stob Coire Easain, which we were up earlier that day
