Meall nan Tarmachan, 25th December 2006
I nipped up Meall nan Tarmachan on the afternoon of 25th December 2006, and was treated to a pretty spectacular inversion, followed by a gorgeous sunset.
I took quite a lot of pictures, and a few of them are here.
Roadside frost near Lochearnhead
I drove up to the col above the Lawers dam and parked there then headed up into the mist. As I neared the summit slopes I came out of the cloud, and from the summit the views were great. It was quite an unusual inversion - the clouds were moving quickly, and were pouring over the hills and ridges. Only a few peaks were above the cloud - the Lawers group, Ben More and Stobinian, Ben Nevis and intermittently also Carn Mor Dearg, Aonach Mor and Aonach Beag, and what I think was Schiehallion. I took most photos looking West over Meall Garbh of the Tarmachan hills to Ben More and Stobinian:

I decided to wait until the sun set. It was pretty cold in the wind, though
Meall Garbh developed a strange misty double edge as the sun sank between Ben More and Stobinian
